At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries before the First World War inhabitants of Riga managed to build around 800 buildings in the Art Nouveau style. Central part of Riga is like open air museum, because all these buildings still decorate streets of our city. In 1997 the central part of Riga was included in the list of world cultural heritage of UNESCO as the most valuable center of buildings of this style. Art Nouveau is really short era, but it has generated masterpieces of architecture. Some of the buildings look like palaces. It would be difficult to visit Riga without seeing such beauties.
